Leather Restoration, Preservation, Cleaning & Customizing

Up

Well here we go. You will need: Crack filler, Sandpaper 180,220,320,400 grits. Prepping Agent, LEATHERIQUE DYE.

In this part we will do the (2) bad spots on the console arm rest.

This is what we started with Dsc00931.jpg (45848 bytes) if you look by my hand you will see the HOLE in the arm rest. What I am doing is putting on REJUVINATOR OIL so as to soften the leather before I start stripping and sanding.

This is the other bad spot DSC01063.JPG (48034 bytes) it is more of an abrasion than a cut. At this point I have removed the color with PREPPING AGENT and 180 grit wet or dry paper.

Here is the 1st application of CRACK FILLER it was pot on using a business card. DSC01062.JPG (47255 bytes) You can see the other damage has not been covered yet. DSC01064.JPG (48509 bytes) You can see the application was with the business card. Here we have done a little more DSC01065.JPG (47327 bytes) you can see the building process for the CRACK FILLER. Do NOT try for a ONE COAT filling it will never dry and will settle as a low spot. Her we have done so more sanding DSC01066.JPG (48826 bytes) see how JUST the damage is filled. DSC01067.JPG (47557 bytes) We about have this one done also. DSC01068.JPG (47532 bytes) OK now we are ready to put on the dye. The color is Magnolia and was BRUSHED on. Here are the results MVC-001S.JPG (36040 bytes) MVC-002S.JPG (37595 bytes) Not to bad. How long you ask, well the pictures are date and time stamped. But the actual work time that was charged was 3 hours. More time was spent waiting and getting coffee than actual work.

Here is the EXTREME use of Crack Filler
